This month’s meeting demonstrated the scientific prowess of Joe Darden with his presentation on mash pH. Members were treated to a detailed description of the factors which influence this property of the mash with specific attention to the differences in local water sources. Homebrewers beware of the contaminants in your water and recognize the impact of adjuncts and additives on the taste of your beer!
Following the discussion, participants were able to wet their whistle with offerings from this month’s featured theme; the Belgian. James Halabuk took home Brewer of the Month honors with Wobbling Cobbler Witbier. After being greeted with the scent of orange, members were treated to a light refreshing taste with just the right amount of carbonation making this beer a winner!
