Graeme welcomed everyone and opened the meeting. Graeme thanked everyone for coming and gave an overview of the meeting. The homebrew style for the month was saisons, wheat, and sours. Next month will be brewer’s choice, to which, Graeme explained that brewers should bring any style they want to present. Gabe, 50 West Homebrew Club Competition Coordinator, gave an update on the club competition. The competition will be held on Saturday, October 21st, 2017 at Ocelot. The first round will be BJCP judged. The club is trying to locate as many BJCP judges as possible for the first round. Submissions that make it to the second round will be judged by local brewery owners and brewers. Stay tuned for additional competition information as we are fast approaching the date. Get brewing your submissions. All members then introduced themselves as there was one new member and one newer member in attendance. Welcome Joey Oseekey and Sean Sanborn!
For the brewer of the month competition, the club got a little crazy and threw caution to the wind by doing a free-for-all round. All beers brought to the meeting were fair game! There were eight submissions. Sean brought a Brown Ale. Ralph had an American Rye. Graeme presented his second saison. Pete brought a Blackberry Gose. Daquan had a Scottish Ale. Tyrone presented a Cherry Wheat Summer Ale. Raoul brought a Belgian Extra Pale. PJ presented a Session IPA. It was a great set of beers and Pete was voted Brewer of the Month for his Falling Cube Blackberry Gose.
